We're proud to be say we are now an ISO 45001 certified construction company. This is an internationally recognized standard for occupational health and safety management systems.
This certification confirms that we proactively:
Identify and manage risk
Work to prevent job-related injuries and illnesses
Create a safe and healthy environment for our employees, partners, and visitors
Strive to learn and improve on our standard each and every year

Achieving this milestone required a comprehensive review of how we operate—from training and hazard identification to leadership accountability and employee engagement. We're proud to be say we are now an ISO 45001 certified construction company.
What you need to know about the ISO 45001 Certification
ISO 45001 establishes a structured approach to improving occupational health and safety by helping organizations minimize workplace hazards, reduce risks, and promote employee well-being through proactive management practices.
COR (Certificate of Recognition) is a well-known safety standard in Canada, ISO 45001 is increasingly recognized as an equivalent framework for managing occupational health and safety. Both standards focus on hazard identification, risk control, worker participation, and continuous improvement. ISO 45001 integrates these principles into an organization’s overall management system, often meeting or exceeding the intent of COR requirements. As a result, many clients and stakeholders accept ISO 45001 certification as demonstrating the same level of safety commitment and due diligence as COR.
ISO 45001 is designed to align seamlessly with an organization’s existing management systems and day-to-day operations. Its structure is consistent with other widely adopted ISO standards, such as ISO 9001 (quality management) and ISO 14001 (environmental management), allowing established processes to be formally recognised and strengthened rather than newly introduced.
According to the ISO Standards website, ISO 45001 certification supports and reinforces practices that contribute to:
Reduction of workplace incidents
Reduced absenteeism and staff turnover, leading to increased productivity
Reduced cost of insurance premiums
Creation of a health and safety culture, whereby employees are encouraged to take an active role in their own OH&S
Reinforced leadership commitment to proactively improve OH&S performance
Ability to meet legal and regulatory requirements
Enhanced reputation
Improved staff morale

How we became an ISO 45001 certified construction compan
At Baribeau Construction, one of our core values is this simple and unwavering belief: we put family first. Living that value means committing to getting everyone home safe—each and every day.
With that commitment, we embarked on a year-long journey to strengthen our safety standards, improve our systems, and further embed safety into our culture. Our goal was not just to meet expectations, but to establish ourselves as leaders in construction safety.
Our Commitment Going Forward
While ISO sets a high bar, certification is not the end of the journey. What matters most is the culture behind it. We are encouraged to see Canada continuing to value safety as a core part of quality in construction, and we remain committed to continuous improvement.
Work needs to get done—but families need to stay whole. At Baribeau Construction, safety isn’t just how we work. It’s who we are.
