SITE superintendent

Full-Time

The Ideal Candidate: A seasoned, organized, professional with leadership skills that’s either currently a Construction Site Superintendent or a foreman looking for the next challenge and an opportunity to showcase your skills. Gold Seal, COR experience, and/or trade designation are all considered assets. Others would describe you as detail oriented, dependable, a team player and the type of leader that others want to follow. You enjoy working in team setting and balancing priorities. You look forward to the opportunity to assume responsibility with the project team for all aspects of the construction job site including scheduling, site safety, planning, risk assessment, quality control, supplier and sub-trade coordination in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities: - Coordinate with the Project Manager and project team to oversee construction on site from mobilization to completion. - Manage project construction schedule, always striving to increase schedule efficiencies. - Oversee daily construction activities. - Make sure the work is being performed in a safe manner and follows our safety program. - Open and secure job site at the beginning and end of each day. - Complete daily journal entries and project records utilizing our construction software. - Chair weekly site foreman meetings to coordinate the work. - Walk site daily and perform quality control duties on the work being performed. - Be very familiar with project drawings and various sub-trades scope of work. - Maintain whiteboard with 2-4 week look ahead. - Maintain and complete punch lists. - Continually help improve company systems. - Able to move into a carpentry foreman’s position when required. - Other duties as assigned. Key Characteristics: - Well organized, dependable, and schedule oriented. - Carries themselves professionally. - Able to calmly handle conflict resolution. - Works efficiently with attention to detail. - Strong team-player, willing to play an integral part of the project team. - Takes initiative, seeks increased responsibility, and is responsible for their own actions. - Proactive and creative problem solving skills. - Must have basic tools and be able to perform carpentry tasks or work with field team as needed. - Strong understanding of building code and inspections. Additional requirements: - 5+ years of construction experience. - Valid driver’s license and clean record. - Competence with Microsoft Word, email, and able to learn new software (i.e. SiteMax). - Endurance and ability to navigate job sites, including ladders and stairs. - Can bend, squat, reach, and physically lift 50 lbs. Project Manager

Full-Time

Pre-Construction - Build and manage design team for design and permitting stages. - Main point of contact for the Owner throughout the project to achieve the client’s goals and objectives. - Coordinate specific project requirements with all parties to ensure all requirements are met. - Assist with developing project budgets and schedule. - Assist with tendering divisions of work. - Perform detailed review of all drawings, specs, and subcontract scopes of work. - Manage project budget through design development stages. - Create and manage project plan, including baseline schedule in cooperation with Superintendent, and VP Operations. - Obtain building permits and approvals. Construction - Manage budget and schedule through construction. Report any variance to VP Operations. - Assist Site Superintendent in addressing issues in the field as they arise. - Assist the Site Superintendent overseeing and monitoring of all trades and construction operations for the assigned project. - Review the actual performance schedule on a weekly basis and at regularly scheduled trades meetings. Project 6-week look ahead schedule to be updated for regular meetings with trades on site. - Manage all project documents including drawings, permits, RFI, SI, CD and CO’s, etc. - Ensure up to date knowledge of all RFIs, SIs, shop drawings, etc. and ensure Site Superintendent and trades are following the required changes on site. - Monitor project to ensure conformity with all milestones, building code requirements, applicable specifications and drawings. - Adhere to any Baribeau Construction protocols as developed over time. - Maintain project contact list. - Maintain Purchase Order Log and make sure all suppliers reference PO on invoice along with correct company name for billing. - Ensure project is completed with Baribeau Construction’s performance standards and project specific scope of work. - Continually evaluate processes and recommend improvements. Safety - Ensure that all work is being delivered in accordance with Baribeau Construction’s standards and meets Ontario Building Code and MOL/OHSA standard. - Review site safety inspections and take necessary action. - Maintain log of subtrade safety compliances. Cost Controls - Review actual costs vs budgeted on a monthly basis. - Complete all progress draws based on construction progress and invoicing. - Create and manage change orders for changes to subcontract scopes of work. - Document sub-trade back charges and inform trades of issues in a timely manner. - Regularly review invoices and billings. Approve per invoice processing SOP. - Apply for substantial performance and holdback release. Personnel Management - Provide leadership and direction for the construction site, supervising the personnel necessary for the effective execution of the project throughout all stages. - Resolve all major trade contractor disputes. - Ensure all site staff are aware of and adhere to all Corporate Performance, Employment Standards and Company Policies. Close-out / Post-Construction - Manage punch lists and deficiency items with the Site Superintendent. - Obtain final signoff from consultants and inspectors. - Assemble and prepare close-out package including manuals, warranty, as-built drawings, etc. - Review and coordinate any warranty claims. Interactions - Report to VP Operations. - Key internal interactions: construction management department, accounting department. - Key exterior interactions: consultants, subtrades, suppliers, inspectors, project neighbors. Carpenter

Full-Time

The Ideal Candidate: You love working with your hands and seeing the results of your efforts. You’re dependable, hardworking, and a team player who enjoys general/rough carpentry work such as wood framing, steel stud framing, drywall boarding, siding, and demolition. You have experience in most or all of the tasks described above and some of your own basic tools. Key Responsibilities: - This position reports to their Crew Foreman and the General Superintendent. - Carpenters are to respect and respond to direction given to them by the Foreman and/or Site Superintendent. - On smaller jobs, carpenters are self-directed and communicate directly with the project manager. - Carpenters are required to have the ability to: - Read and understand construction drawings and specs. - Prepare layouts per drawings. - Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join construction materials such as wood, lightweight steel, and other materials. - Frame walls and floors, install siding, install drywall board and ACT, and install doors and hardware. - Use time and materials effectively. - Have knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools. - Clock in and out using the time tracking app. - Perform other duties as assigned. Key Characteristics: - Carries themselves professionally. - Works efficiently and dependably, with attention to detail. - Strong team-player who drives for results. - Takes initiative, seeks increased responsibility, and is responsible for their own actions. Requirements: - 2+ years of construction experience. - Valid driver’s license, clean record, and reliable transportation to job sites (own vehicle preferred). - Must have basic tools and cordless hammer drill and impact drill. - General computer, writing, communication, and interpersonal skills. - Experience in commercial, industrial, and/or institutional construction is an asset. - Knowledge of building materials, tools, and machines. - Endurance and ability to navigate job sites, including ladders and stairs. - Can bend, squat, reach, and physically lift 50 lbs. Compensation Package Including: - Competitive salary plus performance-based bonus. - Health spending allowance. - Potential to drive a company vehicle. - On-going training opportunities.
